Proven Performance: Cummins Engines for 2017 Motorcoaches Build on Proven Legacy

At the recent United Motorcoach Association (UMA) trade show in St. Louis, Cummins confirmed that its 2017 engine lineup for the motorcoach market will continue with highly successful, established products, but will also feature some notable improvements, such as increased horsepower, greater efficiency and increased diagnostic capabilities. The new L9™ continues the established legacy of the ISL9 and ISX12 engines, with both being 2017 greenhouse gas (GHG) Phase 1-compliant.

Next-Generation X12™ Engine Debuts at UMA Show

Cummins X12 engine sets a new standard for power density and fuel efficiency in motorcoach applications, providing up to 455 hp (339 kW) with up to 1700 lb-ft of torque (2305 N•m) available as low as 1000 rpm, to improve drivability. Available in 2018, the X12 builds on over 40 years of 10- to 12-liter engine experience; at the same time, the ISX12 will continue to be offered to allow for continuity. The innovative architecture of the Cummins X12 results in a remarkably low engine weight of 2,150 lb, enabled by a sculptured block design. Proprietary technology includes the Single Module™ aftertreatment, XPI fuel system, Connected Diagnostics™ and many SmartEfficiency™ features designed to maximize fuel economy, extend maintenance intervals and lower total cost of operation.
